RV Camping Hacks: 4 Easy Tips for Your Fall Break Camping Trip

Hi, my name’s Kate, and I’ve been camping since I was very young.  Let’s be honest: it’s the little things that make your vacation a refreshing retreat or an exhausting excursion.  If you’ve just found the perfect fifth wheel, toy hauler, or travel trailer for sale at Terry’s RV, let me share with you some camping hacks that I’ve learned over the years that will help ensure you get the most out of your next trip.

1.) Hooks for Coffee Mugs

If you are anything like me, mornings are not right without a mug full of something warm and steamy. Also, if you’re anything like me, you have a lot of favorite mugs and don’t want to risk them getting chipped or broken on the road. Merely install hooks — I found some called “cup hooks” — under your cabinet and hang the mugs there for easy access.

Pro tip: Make sure you test the size of the hooks with the mugs that you plan to take!  If the hook doesn’t hold the handle properly it won’t be secure while driving.

2.) Velcro for Remotes

The hardest thing to keep track of, especially if you have small children, is the remote.  For this hack, attach a piece of velcro (soft side) to the back of your remote and the rough side to the inside of a cabinet.  Now, the remote will stay in place while you’re on the move and be easy to find when you get where you’re going.

Let’s face it: these little things are always trying to escape.

3.) Charging Station

Electronics have become a necessity, so set up a designated charging station for the whole family.  I recommend purchasing a second set of chargers for any electronics that regularly go with you on your camping trips and keeping them in the RV at all times.  This way you’ll never get all the way to your destination without realizing you’ve left your phone charger at home.

4.) Add More Closet Space

I try to pack light, I do, but it’s hard sometimes. I like to prepare for anything, so my wardrobe is often packed in pretty tightly. If you need more storage space, I recommend using super skinny hangers and over the door shoe racks to utilize every available space.

Pro tip: If that’s not quite enough, you can install a curved shower curtain rod in a corner for extra space to hang your things.
