RVing Tips: 4 Rules for Safely Traveling This Holiday Season

The holiday season may look nothing like you expected this year, but that doesn’t have to be a bad thing!  Instead, make this holiday an adventure your kids will remember for years to come when you take them on a road trip in your new 2021 Alliance Paradigm fifth wheel from Parris RV.  Learn these four easy RVing tips for safe travels during the end of 2020.

Snow Traffic

Use the Proper Towing Vehicle

First and foremost, if you’re new to RVing, you must have the proper towing vehicle for your fifth wheel, travel trailer, or pop-up camper.  Trucks, SUVs, crossover vehicles, and cars all have a specific towing capacity unique to its make and model.  Be sure to check that your towing vehicle can safely haul your RV when fully loaded with gear, supplies, luggage, passengers, etc., before you leave the driveway.  Learn more about towing capacities on our website.

Check Campground Availability and Regulations

Plan out your route ahead of time.  If you’re going a long way and will be making stops at multiple campgrounds, call ahead to make sure there are sites available and check on any updated regulations in place due to COVID-19 safety measures.  Additionally, you may want to make reservations at your planned stops to ensure to don’t have to look for a campground after a long day of driving.

Plan Nature Outings

The best way to keep you and your family safe this holiday season at the campground is to plan activities around your campsite or outdoors.  Most campgrounds have ample hiking trails with beautiful scenery and secluded spots to enjoy some time together without exposing your family to others.  Try to plan your time away with plenty of outdoor activities.

Don’t Travel on the Busiest Days

It’s no secret that Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas are notoriously some of the worst days to travel all year.  This year, with families being limited in their travel and many remaining home for the holidays, it may look a little different.  However, if you’re hauling a large RV or driving a class A motorhome like this Forest River FR3 33DS class A motorhome at Parris RV, then you won’t want to get stuck in traffic for hours on end.  Instead, plan a few extra days on either end of your stay and skip all the traffic.
